40 Hour Famine 2021
This year we once again want to be a part of the 40 Hour Famine, raising money for children in Sub-Saharan Africa. Due to the Covid19 pandemic vulnerable children are being pushed into further poverty. The 40 Hour Famine is run by World Vision with the aim to raise funds for children in need. These funds will help provide food as well as seeds, chickens and other farm animals to enable families to produce their own food.
The Famine will run on the weekend of 25 - 27 June. We advise children at Ladbrooks to participate in 20 hours rather than 40 hours as this is more achievable and less stressful on their young bodies. There are a lot of things that you can give up over the 20 hours. You may want to have 20 hours without food, or transport, or technology, or furniture, or only 4 different types of food in 20 hours. And sometimes children have even gone 20 hours without talking!
We will also have the 40 Hour Famine Craft and Food stall happening. This is an opportunity for those participating in the Famine to make crafts or food to sell after school two days a week. These stalls will happen on a Monday and a Wednesday after school and are a great way to support children who are doing the Famine. Some past stall ideas have been: sherbet, popcorn, scrunchies, travel board games, biscuits, candle and jewellery holders and much more.
There are even rumours of another 40 Hour Famine Sleepover at school on the night of 25th June! More information will come out regarding this closer to the time.
Next week there will be a survey sent out via Hero in order for people who want to do the famine to sign up. Books will then be handed out and the fundraising can begin!
