On Thursday 14th of June Nayland choir students arrived home from Blenheim happy and proud of the results they had achieved that day.

Nine of our rangatahi (youth) from Years 10 -12 were selected as leaders for our upcoming Year 9 Hui Taurima event. As part of their training they were invited to participate in a Waka Haerenga (waka journey) in the Abel Tasman on 11 and 12 June.

There have been many social actions taking place over recent times at Nayland College. All of them have been to raise money and awareness for World Vision and specifically for the children of the South Sudan refugee crisis.

This coming Tuesday 26 June, a dedicated group of Nayland College students will perform at Showquest. Our students have been working hard rehearsing before and after school and at lunchtimes since the start of the year and have created a fantastic piece that we can be proud of.

Year 9 & 10 students have recently completed a fitness unit during physical education lessons.

Holly Ward, Zena Denton and Luke Denton participated in the Top of the South Tour Speed Skating 3-day competition which was held in Blenheim near the beginning of June.

As a part of the learning support class mathematics project on cars, Mr Peter Glue was invited to school to show students a classic car he had assembled himself.

Wicked Tooth Fairy is an exciting new service, recently launched at Nayland College by Whanake Youth. We are a youth health and wellbeing charitable trust who aim to ensure our local young people have timely and youth appropriate access to health and wellbeing services.

The government’s review of NCEA is now underway, and people all over the country have started talking about, and sharing their ideas and experiences of NCEA - the challenges, the successes and what we can do better in the future.
