This year 38 students and six staff took off for the hidden treasure that is Kidds Bush DOC campsite. We had a wonderful week full of sunshine, games and activities.

Principal's Report

Today is the final day of school for Year 9 and 10 students, who will be free to leave at lunchtime. Letters containing form teacher comments for your daughter's efforts at school this year and the link to the parent portal where you can find her full report, will go out prior to the girls' departure this morning.

Student Learning Conferences January 2017

As you will be aware we have revised our Parent-Teacher Interview programme to better support you and your daughter with her learning. The model we have moved to shows considerable success in increasing student engagement in their learning and progress, greater sharing of student work with parents and families, improved school attendance patterns and better overall well-being for the student.

DIVIDE CAMP

On the 28th of November 2016 a group of 20 Year 10 girls and three teachers set off for the Divide. From there we planned to walk the Routeburn track, finishing on the Glenorchy side of the great walk. We all had high hopes and I think, looking back at the tramp, we had a lot of fun.

New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Track and Field Athletics Championships

Nine girls travelled to Auckland to compete in the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Track and Field Athletics Championships. This is one of the biggest sporting events held in New Zealand with over 1400 athletes competing in Junior (Under 16) and Senior (Over 16) sections.

Enviroschools

Lettuce have a good 2017!

All the best for the holidays from the Enviroschools group. Big thanks especially this year from all of us to our Enviro leader Nika Wood, and to Mr Rietveld for the watering system in the glasshouse and the new raised vege garden (we'll return in 2017 to beans, more lettuces and tomatoes).

Latin Museum Trip

On Friday 28 October both Latin classes visited the Otago Museum where the students translated Latin inscriptions on Roman coins, some of which were made during the reign of the emperor Trajan nearly 1900 years ago.

Mathematics

Recently 9Hu and 9Rs have been writing children's first Mathematics books. They then went to the Children's Ward at Dunedin Public Hospital and The Hospital Early Childhood Centre to read them to the children there. They later presented their books to the staff.
