More than any other leadership theorist, Robert Greenleaf helped us understand that leadership is all about service.

Servant-leadership puts others first – in the hopes of promoting a sense of community. The Dalai Lama has said,

‘If you seek enlightenment for yourself, simply to enhance yourself and your position, you miss the purpose.

If you seek enlightenment for yourself to enable you to serve others, you are with purpose”.

I would like to acknowledge the work that you as Student Leaders have done for us over the 2023 school year. Thank you all for your help, hard work and for the support that you have given, not only to me but to Senior Management and to our school in general.

You have attended special events as school representatives, attended information evenings, taken guests on tours, worked in school delivering messages morning and afternoon, covered the lunch orders, PE monitor at lunchtimes, monitored our litter and house points, run the engraving service, hosted assemblies and you have written and delivered speeches incredibly well to different audiences.

Recently, when I was thinking of the criteria by which to choose our new student leaders for next year, I thought about what it was that you demonstrated this year.

The personal attributes that you have shown came to mind like; shows initiative and has that ‘can-do-factor’, can be relied upon, is organised, looks for ways to help those around them, can speak well in front of groups, is resilient and can have plans change on you with little or no notice and cope, you are trustworthy and do the right thing at all times. The job you do in school is big and you have done it so well.

It has been my pleasure to work alongside such a respectful, giving, up-beat and happy team of hard-working students.

I have appreciated your hard work and wonderful company. Your colleges are so lucky to have students of your caliber coming their way.

I wish you all the very best for college next year. Take every opportunity that comes your way and give everything your best shot, you will be rewarded for the effort you put in.
