Last Wednesday as a culmination of the work we have been doing around Road Safety we held a Junior School Wheels Day. The learners were invited to bring along their bikes or scooters and a helmet.

Thanks to the energy company Mercury, we now have a brand new set of soccer goals on our school field. Football is an extremely popular sport here at Silverdale and all our footballers already have FIFA contracts in their sights.

Following a week of learning about what ANZAC day represents, the school had a Remembrance Assembly on Friday of Week 1.

On Tuesday, 10th May all of our school community had the incredible opportunity to be a part of a pōwhiri (a formal welcoming ceremony). The purpose of the pōwhiri was to officially welcome and honour new relationships that our school is forming with people from a local marae.

You are invited to Grandparents Day on Tuesday, 30th May from 11.30 to 12.45pm. The day will begin with a special assembly under the canopy after which you will have the opportunity to visit your grandchild's class.

Wow! What an amazing day we had at Jansen Park for the Interschool Touch Tournament.

After easing into Term 2 with a short week it is wonderful to see tamariki and kaiako charging ahead into new learning opportunities.

The King's Birthday is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in June. King's Birthday Weekend falls on Monday, 5th June this year. This is a Public Holiday, and school will be closed on this day.

Congratulations to our awardees

Our school will be closed for instruction of Friday, 16th June as a Kāhui Ako wide Teacher Only Day is being held on this day.

The students in Room 10 were very fortunate to have Henry Lin's mum and grandad teach us how to paint Chinese symbols. They talked about what the symbols meant, showed us the tools to use, demonstrated how to do it and then we had a go!

Term 3 has started with some hands on, out of this world learning as we dive into the theme of space.

Launchpad Champions (formerly Bible in School) is an opt-in Christian Values Education programme which is held in our school weekly. The programme runs weekly in the Student Common Room each Tuesday from 1:00pm to 1:30pm. It is available to tamariki in all years.

Free delivery closed on Sunday, 21st May - orders can still be placed, but they will be delivered to your home address and a delivery fee will be charged.

The Staff of Silverdale are taking part in the Pink Ribbon Breakfast campaign this year to help support Breast Cancer Foundation NZ's vital work.

Rebel Sports are partnering with Adidas to find ball kids for the Women's competition in July.

We encourage you to collect the stickers from Yummy Apples and cut-outs from 1.5kg bags of Yummy Apples (if you don't already do so) for Silverdale Normal School's share of this year's allocation of sports gear.

This after school programme held in Room 7 on a Tuesday after school offers One FREE trial class for new students ( but limited spaces due to limited lego kits)

To celebrate, Coding NZ is offering all NZ school students in years 5 to 13 a free tutored code learning session. Sessions are online every day after school this week, and can be attended at a student's preferred time of 4pm, 5pm or 6pm.

Arts for Health is excited to announce our Annual Art Competition and Exhibition, "Connections," taking place in July 2023.
