The mid-point of 2022 has snuck up on us as we approach a well-deserved break for learners and staff alike at Wakari.

Last Thursday a group of Senior Hub writers got to experience a writing workshop with 27 times published author Swapna Haddow!

Room 1 have written amazing stories about a character.

During the second half of this term the children have been learning how to write instructions in a range of settings. They have learnt that instructions need to be very specific, that each instruction begins with a verb and that they are sequenced in order of what needs to happen. Room 14 writers have been writing instructions for 'How to make fairy bread' and 'How to make a witches potion'. Room 16 writers have written instructions for 'How to blow a bubble'

We have been busy this term with our topic ' I Am A Legend'. We have been learning about different legends and then creating our own. We can't wait to share them with you!

The musical maestros from the Room 12 and 13 Hub have been having a great time learning about the elements of music and new songs with Mrs Gribben

The children in the Rooms 12 and 13 Hub are on a health kick. We are practicing for the cross country and we are working towards a healthy school with the help of Greenie.

The children in Hub 1,2,3 have started preparing for the School Cross Country.

After competing so well at the Metro Rippa day earlier this term, Wakari school were invited to send a Middle and Senior team to compete in the Otago Rippa Tournament at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The learners in our Hub really look forward to Reading time. Every week we have a cool new topic which we call "Action Stations". During this time we work on different activities such as Draw It, Write It, Word Work, Seesaw tasks, creating things on the Maker Table and many, many more! Of course, we also get to read with our teachers.
