Attitudes and culture around Wakari School at present have never been better. Staff and learners are thriving and the term promises to be a positive one.

What a fantastic few days we had out at Waiora Scout Camp!

The walls of Room 10 have been decorated with the most amazing artwork in honour of the Queen.

Mrs Stanbridge was in at school the weekend before Term 1 started and noticed a letter addressed to the children of Rooms 1,2 and 3. Mrs Lawson and Mrs Bonney found the same!

A number of new cases within our school highlights the need to be vigilant.

There was something 'magical' happening in the mansion on the last day of Term 3. Children were very proud to be able to share their gardens and houses they had created with the wider school and parents which they had put many hours into planning, designing and making.

In a week and a half (Saturday, November 5th) we will be hosting a Whānau Wānanga (family/day workshop) at our school to give our families the opportunity to experience some of our beautiful Māori arts - such as poi, harakeke (flax weaving), whakairo (carving)...and more!

We have been welcoming the warmer weather and getting active in the junior hub in Room's 1,2 and 3 with the start of our athletic rotations.

Last week, while the Year 5 students were away at camp, the Year 6 students studied Egypt. Here are some of their highlights.

For the first part of this term we have been learning all about teeth. On Monday we learnt about the different types of teeth and the special jobs they do. We found out that there are incisors, canines, premolars and molars. These teeth are shaped to help us cut, slice, tear, and crush and grind food.

The Home and School kindly bought us a dizzy giddy and balance board to help the children develop their balance skills. They are proving very popular and the children are getting really good at controlling their movements in and on them. We also have small beams, moon hoppers and stilts.

A Rocky start, as we are all very excited to be exploring the Rock Pools this term in Room 12 and 13.
