The Westland High School student Soroptimist group are very active around the school, working on important social issues of concern.

The Year 13's had the views of a lifetime on their recent trip to the Kelly range.

The year 7 and 8 Hockey team recently competed in a Hockey tournament at Hillview School, with great results.

The Westland High School teams competed well at the West-A-Maths competition held in Westport. Congratulations to all students who competed.

The International Director plants a tree, with International student Amelie Fleischmann, as part of the initiative to offset their carbon footprint.

Sam Hewitt does it again at the Junior World Freeride tour in Queenstown.

The 1st XV played a good game recently against Kaikoura here at Westland High School. Thank you to Kaikoura for driving all that way to offer the teams some game time in whats been a challenging season.

The Westland High School Student Soroptimists recently organised a Daffodil day Art Competition.

The organisers of this years Te Ahurei o nga Kura o Te Tai Poutini (West Coast Kapa Haka festival), have made the decision to cancel this years festival.

Karren McNee has put together a small brief on her experiences in the past as a host parent to our international students. We thank Karren for being such strong supporters on the international programme over the years and helping us to enrich the lives of our students through cultural exchange. We also offer our gratitude to Shelly McNee and Matt Cant who also hosted Amelie.

We have new dates for the long awaited Lion King Jr production.

The School Ball is next week, and students have been prepping, planning and organising as fast as they can.

We have a lot of lost property, please claim it. Some items are brand new! All will be going to the op shop next Thursday if they have been unclaimed. Those school uniform items unnamed and able to be reused will be used at school for students in need.

Term 4 and end of year Prizegiving are quickly approaching! If you won a trophy last year, could you please return it to the school office so we can get it ready for the next recipient.

The impact of COVID-19 and lockdown is causing stress within young people in New Zealand. It is likely that young people will continue to experience the consequences of months of disruption to regular routines, family functioning and social relationships.

These are the school's opening dates for 2021.

They'll be onsite from the 19th October.
