As I write this I am able to see blue sky and daffodils and with an increasing number of warmer days there is a feeling that we are now on the way out of winter and soon the Hagley Park cherry blossoms will be in full bloom.

This Sunday, Te Kura o Hine Waiora students are walking 10km around Hagley Park, alongside 9 other High Schools from across Ōtautahi, to unite for mental health awareness.

On Tuesday evening our team of Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora Poets competed at the Creative NZ Spoken Word Poetry Competition, which was held at "The Piano" on Armagh Street.

On Saturday19 August the Christchurch Girls’ High School /Te Kura o Hine Waiora 1st XV rugby team took on Southland Girls’ High School in the South Island girls rugby final.

Last Saturday,19 August, Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora had two adventure racing teams entered in the Crazy Kea Event held at Loburn.

On Sunday 13 August a team from Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora participated in the annual Mud Run held at the Adventure Park, in some tough conditions.

Last week was the end of Wednesday winter sport, Friday basketball and hockey, and Saturday netball for most teams.

Christchurch Girls' High School / Te Kura o Hine Waiora Year 12 Health classes are taking action to improve the well-being of our school community by distributing free menstrual products to all students.

The 2023 Senior School Exams will take place in Week 8 of Term 2. The Senior School Exams will start on Thursday 7th of September and conclude on Friday 15th of September.

This is an initiative to encourage Te Reo Māori in our Kura
