18 students enjoyed being "screen zombies" in the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival in June.

June has been an amazing and very busy month of music making here in our new Music Suite.

We've had some very strong sporting achievements over the last month.

We've had national recognition in directing, acting, costume design and essay writing in June.

Over 50 international students presented an impressive International Concert at the end of Term 2.

Ahi Kaitai-Mullane won Best Speaker in Otago-Southland for Nga Manu Korero Speech Competition. 

This year all Year 13 Biology students were invited to attend a Biotechnology laboratory opportunity at the Biochemistry Department at the University of Otago. 

Head Girl, Reva Grills won the Otago-South Canterbury final of the LIONS speech competition in Oamaru at the end of May.

On Monday the 27th of June, three students participated in the Information Science Technology Challenge at the University of Otago. 

We finished Term 2 with an awesome Karaoke Week.

Aditia Hasib and Tanya Findlater were selected as our Edge interns for 2016.

At the beginning of Term 2,  our Charity Group ran a highly successful rummage sale in support of Rape Crisis Dunedin. 

Katharine Woolrych won the National Council of Women Otago essay competition this year.

Over 600 students from seven co-educational schools in the Dunedin region competed in 7 winter sports in June. 

Peter Hills, Deputy Principal and Sue Kim, Korean teacher were awarded scholarships to attend the 2016 International Conference of Korean Educators Abroad in Seoul for a week at the end of July. 

On the 24th June, as part of activities surrounding World Refugee Day, the LPHS Amnesty International Group hosted an evening of discussion and education about the global refugee crisis.

As part of the LPHS Amnesty International Group’s activities for World Refugee Day, we met with the Minister of Immigration Michael Woodhouse to discuss NZ’s policy on refugees and asylum seekers, on June 24.

On Wednesday June 22nd students from two Year 9 classes conducted the annual winter solstice pedestrian survey for the Dunedin Institute of Valuers. 

Formal preparations are almost complete for the Masquerade Ball on Saturday the 9th of July.

Our first project for Year 10 Fabrics was to create our own ‘ugly creature’. We had to base our design off two or more animals as well as re-purposing fabrics. 

Logan Park recently competed in the Otago Secondary Schools Teams Chess Championship. 

On the 10th of June, international students went to the Albatross Colony, on Otago Peninsula.  

The Science Department worked on re-developing our courtyard during Term Two. The work for this took place over a series of weekends. 

Congratulations to Y13 students David Prime and Ola Szukiel who represented Warrington Taekwondo Club in the South Island Taekwondo Championships in Blenheim in early June. 

We held our school cross country on Thursday 9 June. 

Congratulations to Angus McLean who was a national finalist in the Chinese Bridge Speech competition, held in Auckland at the end of May.   

Our students are helping to develop an English to Maori online translation app.
