A busy start to Term 3!

Kahu and his cousin Imani J (Nelson Girls College) are through to the national semi-finals in the Smokefree Rockquest competition! They have been invited to professionally record a music video for their chance to make it to the finals. Good luck Kahu and Imani!

Not only has Mikaela McDonald been selected to compete at the Oceanias next month, she has also gained entry into the World Roller Games in Argentina in October.

Year 10 student, Finn Kerby-Pinguet, won over the judge with his humourous take on writing and the current economy.

Ten Nayland College students had the opportunity to take part in a citizen science project last Saturday.

Y9 and Y10 pupils were competing all over the country (and internationally) for a wide range of sports. We are incredibly proud of their results which are a true reflection of their mahi, dedication and discipline.

The Nayland College Institute of Sports students had the opportunity to participate in a virtual presentation by New Zealand Paralympian Corey Peters. This online presentation was organised by the Asia New Zealand Foundation.

When one student needed to borrow a pair of tracksuit pants for PE, a group of friends all decided to model the old (but still fashionable) attire!

Nayland College warmly invites Year 8 students interested in joining IOS in 2023, to attend an information evening from 7-8pm on Wednesday 17 August in the Nayland College gymnasium classroom with guest speaker Eloise Van Velthooven, a former professional volleyballer who represented New Zealand at a national level and gained a full athletic scholarship to America. Parents and caregivers welcome, light refreshments provided.

There are 11 candidates who have put their names forward for the two parent representative positions available on the Nayland College School Board. Voting papers have been mailed out and candidate statements are attached below. Voting closes 4pm Thursday 8 September.

Registrations open at 12:30pm on Wednesday 10 August. INSPIRE is an all day event where youth aged 8-13 choose which STEAMS courses they'd like to attend. The event costs $50, a price that has not changed in 10 years! The event is being held at Nelson College for Girls.
