Last week our Head Boy Jack Walecki and Head Girl Hannah Hanson joined a number of schools in our Banks Peninsula Electorate to have morning tea with Hekia Parata the Minister of Education and local member of Parliament Nuk Korako. Our students enjoyed this occasion as our senior leaders and representing Oaklands School.

This week our Values focus is on Eating. All students have been focusing on these values in their class this week.

How are the Year 7/8s going as leaders at Oaklands School?

Read below for some information about our collaborative Korowai Cloak activity for you to do with your children at home next week.

This week we are going to unpack the Numeracy Framework which the Number and Algebra components of our Mathematics and Statistics Programme are based on.  

In Year 5 and 6 this has been the focus question for our Integrated Learning in Term 2.  We (Room 11 students) would like to share some of our learning when we visited the Travis Wetlands, some of our collage and paint art of habitats and species plus a description one student wrote.

This was on the menu after Room 18 did cooking with their Year 7/8 helpers. We shared the kai with the rest of Room 18, Room 14 and the Year 7/8 buddies. From the looks on the faces it tasted pretty good...

On Wednesday 22 June our top Cross Country runners competed at the Primary Canterbury Cross Country at Halswell Quarry. The weather and course were excellent, with warm temperatures and a fast, dry track. Our best result came from Xanthe, who placed 8th in the Year 8 girls race.  All of the other children put in maximum effort and should be proud.

To be presented at the next school assembly on Monday July 4th at 2pm.

Dates for your diary.

Any child leaving or arriving at school between 9am and 3pm must be signed out at the office.

The purpose of our complaints policy is to provide clear guidelines for the school community in raising and resolving concerns and complaints.

With the large number of students unwell it is really important that you let the office know if your child will not be at school.

Please respect our NO GO zones and times and be considerate of other students and their families.
