Room 5 CAPES Adventure

On the 17th of October, Room 5 biked the Clutha Gold Trail. We set off from the Waihola playground at 10:00 AM. From there, we biked along a boardwalk over Waihola Lake. We were all excited when we saw the 1 km signpost, but we still had a long way to go. Throughout the day, we covered 30 km, cycling over bridges and on gravel paths. The track was not too challenging, with just a couple of small hills.

We stopped for 15 minutes to have morning tea at the phosphate building. After enjoying our snacks, we continued until we reached the picnic table, our designated lunch area. Mr Beadle took the students who wanted to bike an extra 3 km further down the track while the others had a longer lunch break.

Once everyone had finished eating, we began our journey back, which was a bit harder since we were all tired and faced more uphill. Everyone felt happy to be back, but we had an awesome time. Little did we know that Mr. Beadle had a refreshing ice block waiting for us! After enjoying our ice blocks, we had a quick play at the Waihola playground before leaving for school at 2:00 PM.
