Newsletter Week 4, Term 2, 2021

Kia ora e te whānau,

There is plenty of active learning going on throughout the school at the moment. It was wonderful to see so much whānau come out to see the senior school's show case of learning last week. I hope you learnt as much as I did from touring around the classes and listening to our enthusiastic scientists (our students!!) as they presented their questions and findings. Our junior team are exploring how messages and meaning can be expressed through text - and signs have popped up all over the school! The middle school learners are currently exploring the different states of matter - and in some quite delicious ways🍦. Ask your children to tell you more about what they're learning in school - they've got a lot to share!

There has certainly been some wild weather these past couple of weeks! We are trying to give our learners as much time outdoors as possible, but at times it is too wet and we need to stay inside for our breaks. A reminder to please send your children to school with warm and weather proof jackets if possible, and especially for our younger learners - a change of clothes.

As always, I am happy to meet with you to discuss anything around school life or our values and principles. I'd also like to encourage those of you new to our community to get in touch - I'd love to meet with you. Please feel free to email me to arrange a time to meet up: michaelh@silverdale.school.nz.
