This year we have begun a Year 9 course that approaches learning in quite a different way. The 9DTM class aims for students to experience learning in all their core and chosen subjects, and to also experience learning using the Design Thinking Framework focusing on future focused skills and learning to learn.

As a kura we value your support and the important role you play in the learning and education of your young person. Our expectations are that you can support us as we seek to ensure our learners are at school on time or if they are absent, that this absence is explained.

Following a very successful day at the Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics championships, five athletes from Tauranga Girls' College were selected to represent Waikato/BOP at the North Island Secondary Schools Athletics championships at Porritt Stadium, Hamilton on 10-11 April.

Te Tai Whanake ki Tauranga Moana, will be a first for New Zealand, bringing all Tauranga Moana Iwi and schools together in a unique and enduring way. Tauranga Girls' College is excited to be part of this journey.

On Thursday 8 April, participants of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze in 2020 were awarded with their certificates and badges.

Easter week was a busy one for the school's jazz muso's. A two-day tour of local schools was followed by the annual National Jazz Festival and two combined TGC and TBC jazz bands joined the best of the country's College Big Bands in the largest ever Youth Jazz Competition.

Week 8 had a lot of students competing in variety of sports. Our girls represented the school proudly and got some great results, winning medals and trophies.

Term One at TGC has been full for students in the English Department.

Tauranga Girls’ College students volunteered to help at Gate Pā Primary at the Top Schools event.

A team of 13 students represented Tauranga Girls' College at the BOP swimming competition on Tuesday 30 March.

On Saturday 3 April TGC students competed in the Aquaknights Zonal Secondary School Open Water Swimming Championships at Mount Maunganui.

Year 10 Te Whe Health Science Exploration Day On 30 March seven of our Year 10 wāhine attended the Whakapiki Ake Te Whe development day run on behalf of the University of Auckland’s Medical and Health Science department.

Tauranga Girls' College is fortunate that I Dance Studios gives our our NCEA Level 2 and 3 students a real authentic learning space as an alternative to ours.

Attached is a poster detailing all the services being held this year to honour and remember the soldiers who fought at Gallipoli and other conflicts.

Tauranga Aero Club is offering a Gateway Course during Term 2, 3 and 4. It is an eight week course, so the students have a week free at the beginning and end of the term.
