Our girls had a great day in the sun enjoying Athletics Day 2021! On Thursday 18 February Tauranga Girls´ had our second whole school event with the newly introduced school houses! Due to being under level two covid restrictions we had to adapt and instead of having our activities at the domain as per usual, we held the event on our very own TGC field and had a blast!

Tauranga Girls' College are part of the Tauranga Peninsula Kāhui Ako, a Community of Learning which is made up of 15 schools, 38 ECE centres, members of our local iwi, school whānau and the wider Tauranga Moana community. We aim to bring together our individual strengths as a collective to establish effective interventions, strategies and innovations for our ākonga from ECE through to their schooling years (Years 1-13) and beyond into tertiary education.

On Tuesday 16 March the Year 11 Dance class was lucky to have Raukawa Tuhura from the Lakes Performing Arts Centre in Rotorua make the trip over to Tauranga Girls’ College to teach a Hip Hop/Māori Fusion set.

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing (T.A.C) is always a highlight on the L3 Geography calendar.

On Tuesday 16 March TGC competed in the BOP Secondary Schools Touch Championships in Whakatane.

The Tauranga Multicultural Festival was held on the 20 March at the Historic Village.

On Monday 15 March we had two teams, our junior and senior teams, competing in the Bay of Plenty Futsal Championships at TrustPower Arena.

At Tauranga Girls’ College we promote and value the concept of service and contributing to the local community. In other words being a part of something bigger than yourself.

Olivia Hala and Saskia Rhind represented the Waiariki Māori U17 and U15 team.

These are some of the amazing creations our Year 10 students made last year. They were on display at the Incubator in the 112 Art Exhibition at the end of last year.

We had 10 girls from the Leo Club volunteer at the Family Bike Day held by the Bethlehem Te Puna Leo Club: Family Bike Day Lions Club on Sunday 21 March.

During Student Volunteer Week our TGC communications committee aimed to raise awareness of students in our school community who give back in our community and encourage others to connect. We hope you enjoyed the facebook campaign #SVW2021 #givegrowconnect

On Friday 12 March, 11 of our senior girls travelled to Rotorua for the BOP Secondary Schools Tennis Tournament.

Selected students from 11 Western Bay of Plenty high schools were invited to attend a two day noho at Whareroa Marae to kick off Priority One’s 2021 Instep Young Leaders Programme.

All New Zealand Universities are scheduled to visit us in the early stages of 2021. Canterbury and Victoria University of Wellington have already presented to our senior rangatahi.

Our Year 9 Art students created this collaborative installation during our recent whanaungatanga time.
