Wednesday 11th September- Learning Conferences.

The second round of Learning Conferences for the year will take place on Wednesday 11th September (week 8). All students, accompanied by at least one of their caregivers, are required to attend a 30-minute conference to receive and discuss their term three reports with their Academic Coach.

On Thursday 5th September the year 10 PE students took part in the workshop, run by former NZRFU employee, Jared Tuoro.

From week six of term three, the primary responsibility for the pastoral care of our students shifted to year-level deans and coaches. Pastoral care includes monitoring academic progress, subject selection, and following up attendance, uniform and behavioural issues.

Year 9 student Jorja Anderson, and year 11 students Taylor Stevens, Miniah Summerell, Shelby Wells and Chloe Wright all coached by Mr Nation, represented Nation Barbell Club at the event, held in Upper Hutt.

This year, the annual, week-long tournament took place at the ASB Sports Centre in Wellington.

The boys competed in the Expert 17-19 Senior Open class of the competition, held in Taikorea.

On Thursday 22 August our visitors arrived from our sister city of Narita, Japan for the annual Narita Exchange.

Our annual Open Evening was held this year on Thursday 1st August.

The girls were presented with a Sporting Merit Badge for their achievement in Assembly.

Jazamain Tamatea, Kaylah Gyde, Mya Morrissey and Brianna Strawbridge sold a selection of RJs licorice in the Levin Mall to raise money for the Kidney Kids Charity as part of their NCEA assessment.

They enjoyed an evening of contemporary and ballet performances by some of New Zealand's best dancers which has inspired them for their own dance performance and NCEA assessment next week.

On Tuesday 19th August the students presented their plan for a new waste management system to Council!

The team defeated Cornerstone Christian School, 4-1, in the finals on Monday 19th August.

The Hard As Nails Challenge is based around NCEA performance P.E credits and involves five individual workouts that are timed.

Established in 1985, the Manawatu College Educational Trust supports the educational advancement of Manawatu College pupils.

On Friday 2nd August, Manawatu College took a selected group of students to the first-ever White Ribbon Youth Ambassador Leadership Program.

Prepair NZ aims to educate young people about healthy relationships, emotional abuse and self-love.

Makalah, who works at New World, Foxton was recognised in the Horowhenua Chronicle for her accomplishments.

Following the final matches in 2019 Under 20 Development Series in Palmerston North, the Hurricanes Youth Council's Selectors named a Hurricanes Under 20s team to compete in the Central Region Shield Tournament.

This workshop, aimed at whanau and friends who have young people in their lives is an initiative of the Horowhenua District Council.

The two recently graduated an intense four-day training course in Wellington.

Namiki Secondary School from Japan was touring New Zealand, visiting with our neighbouring college, Horowhenua College.

The College has launched a push on ensuring correct uniforms are worn by students at all times.

On Wednesday 24th July, joined by 30 other young people from Horowhenua College and Waiopehu College, our students boarded the bus in Levin to head to Wellington.

Tuesday, 23rd July marked a year since the passing of our much loved Mr Parrant.

Year 11 students Ani Karanga-Puhi and Trinity Richards were awarded their Sporting Merit badges for their selection in the Under 15 Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Girls Representative team 2019.
