Another successful year for Burnside High School

On December 3, our Te Kura o Waimairi-iri whānau came together to share kai, kōrero and acknowledge the achievements of our students.

We had 86 junior players compete in three tournaments during Term 4.

We held our annual Burnside High School Fia Fia Night on Thursday November 28.

On Monday, 2 December, a group of BHS students visited the Digital Innovation Center, Christchurch Airport, to experience the new digital technologies they are introducing there. These students were part of the Robotics group in the cross-curricular week. The purpose of this outing was to introduce the students to the exciting applications for robotics and virtual reality the airport is involved with, in collaboration with the University of Canterbury's Center for Entrepreneurship. Another fantastic day was enjoyed by all students who participated in the Year 9 Activity Day which we ran with Sport Canterbury.

A couple weeks ago, the Prince Charles of Wales and the Duchess Camilla of Cornwall visited New Zealand together for the first time in four years.

Recently two teams from Burnside participated in the annual UC Amazing Race, one team emerging as winners!

A wonderful end-of-year with final showcases and awards

The winner of the Peter Rowe Cup for Musicianship is Felix Backhouse Felix is an outstanding all-round musician who has contributed at the highest level to every facet of the music department in his five years at Burnside High School.

Bright and early on Wednesday 24th of September, we assembled at school to set up for the Ki o Rahi tournament which the Year 12 and Year 13 Sports Leadership and Performance organise for the Year 8 Cobham Intermediate students.

Burnside students achieve great results at local regional powerlifting championships.

Burnside is very proud of the three year 9 students who qualified for and competed in the World Scholars Cup Tournament of Champions at Yale University .

PETER BRYANT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to the Dux of the school Ethan Ng
