On Monday we celebrated the success of our Level One, Two and Three students who gained Excellence Endorsements in their respective NCEA levels.

Columba's student-directed 'Macbeth', directed by Year 13 student Penelope Hare, and featuring a cast of 21, won at the Regional Competition last night held at King's and Queen's Performing Arts Centre.

On Thursday we were honoured by a visit from the German Ambassador to New Zealand, Herr Stefan Krawielicki.

To round off the excitement of Book Week in Term 2, we will be holding a Reading Marathon in the Library for Years 7-13. Express interest now!

Though half a world away, Columba College Classical Studies students seized the opportunity to be part of The University of Iowa’s 2021 ‘Homerathon’ at the end of Term 1.

300 of the country's top surf lifesavers descended on Ruakākā beach in Northland over the weekend for the BP Surf Rescue New Zealand IRB Championships. Columba College had two students compete in the championships, and the school is extremely proud to celebrate the success of the Loudon sisters!

The Junior School were fortunate to have the Jump Jam Creator, Brett Fairweather, visit this week. He shared his talents and got us all moving and having fun through fitness. We loved it!

A very successful Year 9-10 Social was held on Wednesday evening with Columba hosting students from Otago Boys' High School and John McGlashan College.

Columba College Junior A volleyball achieved a stunning feat this season by winning not only the Junior Premier 1 competition, but also the Senior Premier 2 competition. What a fantastic achievement for our rising young volleyball stars!

This past weekend saw our committed team of athletes travel to Christchurch to compete in the South Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.

Over the weekend of 10th - 11th April 2021, the North Island Diving Championships were held in Hamilton and Columba College was strongly represented in a field of aspiring springboard and platform divers.

Holiday Opening Hours

On Saturday 10th April, Columba College had 13 swimmers compete in the Otago champs held at Moana Pool. They were among hundreds of swimmers representing their schools from all around Otago.

Festivals are a great way to get into the spirit of a new culture. Food and silly festive activities are great things to experience and enjoy when travelling abroad or embracing your neighbours' culture.

Middle School students have a new subject which has been introduced this year: 'Passion project'. This gives our Year 9s a regular time and place for one term to explore and research their chosen passion.

The Year Four class had a visit from Mr and Mrs Tofia who spent time with the class talking about aspects of the Samoan culture.
