Room 6 recently had an awesome and extremely fascinating visit to the Dunedin Wastewater Treatment Plant.

This year we've been developing our skating skills down at Marlow Park. To celebrate a great year we all headed down to the Thomas Burns Skate Park for some fun.

Marae Week wrapped up on Rāmere with our Year 7 Hangi.

Contrats to Team Tahuna who represented us all so well at the national finals in Wellington.

We're halfway though our Novel Study in R6 and I can see what J K Rowling is talking about.

Our Tahuna Lit Quiz team won the Otago Regionals competition with a literary masterclass performance.

Throughout term three we've been exploring the concept of kaitiakitanga, which culminated in our focus on Tahuna's history.

On Wednesday we wore a wig or styled a funky hairdo to support Kiwi kids with cancer.

We've been busy over the last few weeks honing our research, investigative and summarising skills to uncover significant moments in our nation's past.

We've been working hard over the last few weeks conducting our own statistical investigations, which yielded some very interesting results.

Today we had a go at some yoga and meditation techniques.

The Aquavan pulled into Tahuna this week to teach the Year 7's about the marine biodiversity around the Ōtepoti coast.

In Room 6 we've been looking at forces and how they create energy (either push or pull). We set a challenge to try and slow down the impact of gravitational force.

We've been busy designing and building air cannons and linking their firing to Newton's laws of motion.

What an amazing session, seeing students comprehend their plays, interpret their characters, dream up costumes and props..... all within around 30 minutes!

Room 6 is currently in the middle of a virtual race to Birmingham to celebrate the start of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

We examined capillary action in Room 6 today.

Our science term kicked off with an investigation designed to test the student's observation skills.

In Room 6 we've been learning about our geography, what makes us unique (Kiwiana) and marking ANZAC Day through some silhouette art.

A big congratulations to all the Tahuna teams that played and made us proud throughout the season.

Helping others and ourselves is one of the keys to having a successful day.

In Room 6 we're looking at ways to build self-confidence and resilience. Looking to those we love the most proved to be a great start!

We look to the sky, set our goals and watch our goals flourish through care, attention and hard work.

In our class we're using Banqer to inspire the students to be knowledgeable, curious, creative, and confident with money.

Rūma Ono's first group of fitness badge recipients... woop, woop!

Remember scrabble? What about the 3 Second Rule? Game of Awesome? Boggle? Story Cubes? Bananagrams? We've got them all, plus loads more to support our reading and writing work in Rūma Ono.

Our second music lesson was all about beat, turns out, we have it!

In Rūma Ono we're lucky enough to have Miss Hayward as a student teacher. She will be with us every Wednesday during term one and for a block of six weeks in term two.

Hunter McLean and Madeline Hage-Sleiman have been voted by their peers as Class Councillors for Rūma Ono in 2022.

As a subject Maths can cause some students to worry, but we're working hard to make maths fun, engaging, creative and hands on for everyone.

With a few students in The Hub who have received blue cards in the first week we wanted to explain how Tahuna's values system works.

In week 1 we were lucky to have mini tech sessions with each of our tech teachers to give our tamariki a little idea about what they will be doing in tech this year.

While on duty I snapped a few of the Room 6 kids enjoying the bright sunshine at Tahuna, catching up with friends and making new friends.

By the end of the first week in Room 6 connections are being made, our culture is being developed and it's buzzing with activity, learning, community and collaboration.
