Thursday, 12th October is the night for all new and prospective students to come and find out what Te Puna Wai o Waipapa – Hagley College has to offer.

As we get closer to the end of the year, exams, NCEA and University Entrance become an even bigger focus for our students.

In week 9 of the term, we celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week) alongside the rest of Aotearoa.

Today we marked the 100 year anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the main building at Te Puna Wai o Waipapa - Hagley College.

The Ministry of Education released an "Attendance and Engagement Strategy" in 2022. It aims to increase attendance and engagement by focusing on ākonga being present, participating and progressing.

Last Thursday, the Careers department took a group of 15 young women from Years 9-11 to a ShadowTech day event.

2024 will see the start of a change process for NCEA, which is being rolled out nationally. Initially most of the changes to NCEA will be experienced at Level 1 (Year 11).

Our annual well-being snow trip was a fantastic success.

For the ten Thursday evenings throughout Term 3 we have been very privileged to host and run the Whānau Learning Hub.

Tournament week saw 12 of our students compete in Rock Climbing. The men's team finished 5th! We had a really great time and scored lots of spot prizes.

Sebastian Smith is a young man with big goals. I met him on one of his first days at our kura when he rocked up for the Peer Support Camp in the school carpark bound for Hanmer Springs.

This year, our school participated in the National Foundation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NDFHH) Hearing Screening Programme.

On Saturday 9th September we welcomed students, whānau and past and present staff and Board members to celebrate our two new buildings Auripo and Wainuku.

It's been a busy term in the After 3 Jazz programme.

This time of year, we get to witness the stunning cherry blossoms at Hagley Park, and we are equally thrilled to see our students blooming.

On Friday 25th August the Dance studio was buzzing with students from Avonside, Riccarton, Ashburton, Rangiora, Te Kura and Hagley trying out a day as a Hagley Dance Project member.

Year 13 Geographers, under the expert guidance of Sakura Smithers, spent a beautiful winter morning traversing Christchurch beaches to gather data to help with an assessment.

Students in Kaupapa Pai Kete Wana have been involved in projects to benefit the kura and wider community.

On September 1st, 16-year-old Lucy Gray's debut music video 'pretty’ was released.

Our January Intensive programme gives students who missed UE (University Entrance) or other tertiary course entry requirements the opportunity to catch up on a small number of credits in time for first semester study.
