What a year of unexpected events and interruptions to schooling this year. However, many students have been able to make connections via zoom and other technology and numerous teachers report improved communication with their students over the lockdown period.

Spring has sprung in Sumner.

With seven students all on their own paths towards independence, this year has been filled with learning, successes, emotions and now lots of fond memories.

Term four is such a busy, yet exciting term. Studying for NCEA exams, sitting NCEA exams, completing portfolios, merit assemblies and preparing to say goodbye to friends.

Our learners have embraced new changes to KGC timetable as they have set days for Self Directed Learning (SDL) and Structured Learning Time (SLT).

After the isolation and challenges that 2020 has bought us we have strived to come together and reconnect through our Keeping in Touch days (KIT). We had the opportunity to engage in a range of activities throughout our three KIT days.
