Manchester Kindergarten
Pouako are passionate about teaching and learning. We support children’s interests and their developing knowledge, skills and dispositions to grow into life long learners. We work closely as a team and with whānau to ensure consistent strategies to support tamariki in their learning.
Active movement is a strong feature of our programme. It is pivotal to children’s brain development, learning, health and wellbeing and to experience enjoyment and success in life.
We enrich tamariki learning through sustainable practices and embrace the Kaupapa of Enviroschools. Manaakitanga - establishing and maintaining relationships - is hugely important to us so tamariki have key teachers, belong to whānau groups and we have strong iwi and community connections.
Ruahine Manchester Kindergarten is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 2.30pm, and closed over the Christmas and New Year break, as well as 13th January, 30th May, 7th – 10th July and 24th October when teachers are engaged in professional development.

What Our Whānau Say
"Manchester Kindergarten is truly one of a kind. We are eternally grateful for the support we have received from all of the teachers. Our son has been there for about a year and a half and has absolutely thrived during this time. The teachers have gone above and beyond to support not only our son but also our family as we have navigated his neurodivergent diagnosis journey. Every morning, we are greeted with a smile and a hello, the teachers know everyone’s names, whether they’re students, siblings, parents or caregivers. Manchester Kindergarten is not just an early childcare education facility it’s a caring and compassionate community, that we are so lucky to have been able to be a part of."
"Ka Pai my son, we knew you were so ready to venture out in the world. Our first step was finding the right place, and we felt at home and so safe entering Manchester Kindergarten doors.
The wairua felt right and we could tell Jahvis was going to be our big star. He was ready for Kindy and we couldn't be happier to have found our new home with you.
I know you will find your place in the world, big or small. You will always be heard and I'm thankful for that. Thank you for having us.We look forward to all the future adventures and achievements together. "
"Thank you so much teachers for the effort, time, dedication and organisation you all put in to ensure the Matariki Concert was a huge success. You could see the pride and enthusiasm on the children’s faces as they happily performed and smiled and waved to their loved ones from the stage. I certainly know from our own experience that Stella had been looking forward to and talking about the up-coming concert for weeks (if not months) beforehand. She practiced the songs and actions at home and in the car to ensure she got it 'just right'. Well done Stella we are so proud of you and your performance, you are a true star in our eyes xx
"
"This is my fourth child attending Manchester Kindy, which has been part of our lives for approx. 15 years – our family has grown with the kindy."
"The growth in my daughter, since starting at kindy, is huge from learning to socialising."
"My third child is now attending Manchester Kindergarten, so I think this shows how important it is to our family. Close bonds have been formed."
