Tahuna students have returned to school happy to be back - enjoying catching up with their classmates and friends. The school has quickly returned to business pretty much as normal at Level 2 with classes reconnecting in person with their teachers and learning programmes. Thank you to everyone that makes up Team Tahuna for helping us to keep our learning programmes going throughout the lockdown.

Enrolments are coming in steadily for 2023. Please encourage friends and family to enrol their child as soon as possible. Please check out our promotion for all enrolments received before the 9th September

Room 13 and Team 4 have been working hard to understand what it would take to live sustainably on Mars. The combination of Research and Project work on Minecraft, Cardboard Construction and Spheros has built a solid foundation whilst on their Mission to the Red Planet.

In Design Tech the students are designing, building and creatively decorating mobile mars gardens. When finished these will be donated to the local schools and kindergartens.

On the 14th of August McKenzie Bryce travelled to Christchurch to compete in the Hyeon Mu New Zealand Open 2021 which is a Taekwondo tournament. McKenzie was awarded 1 bronze medal, 3 gold medals and a trophy for Best Individual Junior in Poomsae. Team 6 (rooms 9, 10, 11, 12) have been doing workshops together to explore different aspects to do with our Mission To Mars projects. These students were attempting to drop a payload (marble) onto a specific target, only using string a paper cup, paperclip and tape.

For our Mission to Mars focus this term we have been completing some STEAM workshops. Room 11 had a competition to see who could create the most successful straw and balloon rockets!

For Writing this term, Room 11 has been looking at people who have influenced change in the world.

This week we have been refreshing the names of angles.

Stars on stage is a bi-annual event for all Dunedin schools. This event will be held at the Regent Theatre on Tuesday 2nd November at 7:00pm.

Kai was competing in the 36 Hole Chisholm Links Open Event and showed the old boys how it's done!

Lucian Sheehan and Josh North, from Room 7, have created some awesome models in Mr Arnold's class.

Tuki Pōtiki and Lucy Mc Dermott were both awarded Premier awards yesterday.

Team work resulted in a 3-0 win against Balmacewen.

Our unique holiday opportuinities are focused on helping young people develop their skills while participating in activities they love! In October our Emotional Regulation 1:1 Intensives will be running in Dunedin.

As part of the Sport and Electives programme, two self defence classes were taken by Casey Brown.

Team 5 classes have been enjoying their topic on the Olympics and on Friday held a "mini Olympics."
