Nau mai haere mai, and welcome to our first pānui for 2024. A special welcome to our Year 9 whānau, our new international students and those joining Tauranga Girls’ College this year. Woohoo, a new year has begun!

Introducing our 2024 Kaitiakiāwhina.

If a student misses one day of school every two weeks, they miss a whole year of school by 16 years of age. As a parent or caregiver, you, alongside our school, play a key role in building strong habits of regular school attendance.

This event is only for students who have registered to compete, a whole school Festival of Sport will be held later in the year.

Tauranga Girls’ College was represented at the 2023 Bunnings New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch Championships in Rotorua, competing against 20 other secondary school teams in the Girl’s Open Division.

In the last week of the 2023 school year, the Tauranga Girls’ College 1st X1 cricket team flew to Lincoln, Christchurch, for the 2023 Gillette Venus Cup Nationals.

We had three students competing in Christchurch at the New Zealand Secondary School Championships at the end of the 2023 school year.

These events are awesome for students who love the outdoors, team challenges, adventures, having fun and orienteering. Both events help build confidence, grow resilience and develop teamwork skills – a fantastic EOTC experience!

We are fortunate to have such a fantastic pool here at Tauranga Girls’ College.

We in the library, want to welcome everyone back to school and wish everyone a happy New Year! We are looking forward to all the exciting things that are going to be happening in the library in 2024.
