Kia ora e te whānau. This newsletter is full of events and activities that have engaged our students over the last few weeks and it's true that there is something for everyone to be part of.

Upper Hutt College students Grace Seamark and Dominic Smart have had the time of their lives in Mesa, Phoenix, USA as ambassadors representing Upper Hutt in the Mesa Youth Ambassador Exchange programme.

Cold mornings, getting dark early and rain, lots of rain, can mean only one thing.... winter Sport is here. We have record numbers of students representing UHC at the various courts and fields around the Wellington region. Sports Activator Chris Campbell rounds up of some of the highlights thus far.

Upper Hutt College held our annual Pink Shirt Day which encouraged students to dress up in their best pink outfit, as well as enjoy a free sausage sizzle, candyfloss, and music from the band at lunchtime. Student Wellbeing Committee member, Grace Tilley reports.

Two teams of four keen and enthusiastic students from 9BW went to Lower Hutt Town Hall recently to compete against other schools across the Wellington Region in this competition on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Over 70 Year 12 students spent a day learning about what it means to be safe on New Zealand roads. The RYDA safer driving course was well received by students.

At the end of last month a group of seniors took part in the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event. Teacher Julie Sayers runs us through the successful event.

New Zealand Sign Language has been a third official language in Aotearoa since 2006. To celebrate this, Deaf Aotearoa promotes NZSL Week in May every year.

The Year 12 History class visited the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand in Te Aro, Wellington City to further their knowledge for an assessment. Teacher Julie Sayers runs through the thought-provoking trip.

Alexia Hilbertidou, founder of GirlBoss New Zealand is hoping some UHC female students will put their names forward to take part in some exciting events.
