Our Girls 1st XI are the 2020 winners of the Canterbury Secondary Schools' Girls 1st Xl Premier Division 1 grade, beating St Andrew’s College 1st X1 in the final on Wednesday 16 September, 1-0.

On Friday 13th - Sunday 15th March, the Rowing South Island Secondary School Champs were held at Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel. This is always a big regatta with lots of loud and enthusiastic spectators, and always proving to be a weekend full of strong competition.

Congratulations to Burnside High School student Melody Ripley. Melody was crowned the NZ Disc Golf Junior Women's Champion for 2020.

Kaikoura High School turned on the hospitality and weather for our U16 BHS Combined Rugby Team.

The School Cross Country was once again a highlight of the school calendar.

On 17th September we had two teams of Year 11 students compete in the annual Year 11 ARA Chemistry competition.

In late August the year 11 geography students went on a field trip to Quake City, a museum in the city center about the devastating Canterbury 2010/2011 earthquakes.

Our competitive League of Legends team completed the National High School League and came out on top of the Challenger Division!

On September the 7th, four students from Burnside High School competed at the Interschools dressage event.

The ARP project focuses on encouraging Te Reo Māori to be used in our community and involves our students working with the following businesses: Fendalton Library, Jellie Park and New World Fendalton, to help staff and the community to learn and speak basic Te Reo Māori.

After the disappointment of the cancellation of the traditional national and South Island Winter Sport Tournaments, it was a real pleasure to see some of the Burnside High School winter sport teams compete in regional competitions over the original Winter Tournament Week dates, Monday 31 Aug - Friday 04 September.
