ARC - Aspiration, Responsibility and Citizenship

The term is moving rapidly towards senior exam time, and all students in Year 9 through to 13 will be sitting exams of some kind in Term 4. With this in mind our current ARC focus is time management. This includes planning for and meeting deadlines, as well as using class time wisely.

Stella Hamilton-Wallace was the only Katikati College entrant in the BOP Ski & Snowboard champs held at Turoa on 15th August. Competing in the Junior Girls Division she took out the champs  winning the Gold Medal. Well done Stella.

The Katikati College U14 Rugby team have been declared the winners of the BOP Rugby Union U14 Championship Division. Having won all their games this year by fairly sizable margins, this well-drilled team was easily the strongest in their league.

Waikato Band Music Festival

On Friday 19th of August we took 38 students and two parents to Waikato University for the Waikato Band Festival. The students made up two Steel Bands, a Jazz Band and the Concert Band.

Micaela Fleming wins Community Youth Spirit Award

On 15th August the Fleming family and Mr Harray attended the Trust Power Community Awards held at Comvita in Paengaroa. This was a night where Trust Power recognised community volunteers who have excelled in their field in the last year. Micaela Fleming was awarded the Community Youth Spirit award in recognition of the many hours she has committed in the last year to Waihi Beach Coastguard, Co-Arts Captain at Katikati College and as a Civilian Instructor at Sea Cadets in Tauranga.

The annual school sports exchange took place at Katikati College on Wednesday 3rd August with Katikati College hosting Waihi College. Waihi was too strong on the day winning 10 out of the 15 games, particularly showing their depth in basketball where they won all 4 games.
