The annual Otago Secondary Schools Netball Championships were held at the Edgar Centre over Sunday 12th and Monday 13th June, and Columba College put on a dominant display of skill and teamwork across the two-day tournament, leading to some outstanding results for the school.

The stars were shining brightly in our school boarding house last night as boarders and guests enjoyed a midwinter dinner in celebration of Matariki, which marks the start of the Maori New Year.

On Tuesday our Year 7 cohort celebrated their fantastic advertisement films with our inaugural 2022 Columba College Year 7 Film Festival. The vibrant and high energy event reflected the excellence and hard work put in by the students for their English class as part of their learning about advertisements.

Columba's rugby team had a brilliant first game against SOHS on Wednesday and will now face Southland Girls in an interschool game held on Monday 20th June at Kettle Park. The kickoff is at 3:00pm, all spectators are welcome.

National Classics Week returns to Columba from the 20th - 24th of June, and this year’s edition is shaping to be more colossal than a great big ampitheatre in the middle of Rome.

The Junior School were lucky enough to have the team from the Tūhara (Otago Museum) bring the Science Engagement Outreach Programme to us on Thursday afternoon. What shows they were!

Year 6 student Ethan Zhou took part in the 2022 TUNZ South Island Championship held in Christchurch on the 4th of June and achieved extremely highly.

On Sunday 12th June, the Confucius Institute at the University of Canterbury hosted the 2022 NZ South Island “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition (汉语桥) for Foreign Secondary School Students.

Rialto Cinema Dunedin is hosting the French Film Festival, from 16th June - 3rd July. The lineup this year is looking great and the films are an excellent opportunity to explore the French language and culture.

You might remember that the Junior School took part in Sport Otago’s ‘Walk 'n' Wheel Week’ initiative in Term 1. The purpose of the week was to encourage our students to be more active on their way to and/or home from school. It was a fun week, full of different activities.

Our Rainbow Youth and Wellbeing Committee have been decorating Girton and the library for National Schools' Pride Week.
