On Friday, 9th December, we held our prizegiving, which marks the end of our school year.

This also means he has been shortlisted for a $3,000 scholarship!

This is a chance for the staff to farewell the students after their five years at College.

Due to unforeseen issues with the water in the town of Raurimu, our Year 10 Camp had to move to Mangatepopo this year.

On the last week of school each year, our junior students enjoy a week of fun, educational activities put on by the learning faculties in the school.

She competed in the Standardbred class, gaining 3rd place in Best Presented Horse and handler, and 1st place for Best Mare.

The “Footsteps” pilot programme combines technology, games, traditional sports and science into one fun and engaging program, designed to get students active.

To mark the armistice that ended the First World War in 1918, Armistice Day commemorations were held in Levin and Foxton.

On day one of the Lunchtime Volleyball Challenge, the teachers managed to scrape through for the win over the student leadership team.

Jennifer MacDonald graduated with a BA - Bachelor of Arts Linguistics; TESOL and a MTCHLP - Master of TchLrn (Primary).

Te Pa Station includes the land that made up Pah Hill Station, the 2007 winner of the BNZ Maori Farming Excellence Award, and Omerei Station. The primary function is to grow the breeding, store and prime livestock to target live weights.

They have created phone holders, pencil cases and Taonga.

On Friday 7th October we held our annual senior ball. This year's theme was disco.

The Awards night is on 26th October at The Regent.

Students from Freyberg High School, FAHS Feilding High School, Tararua College and Manawatū College came together at Makino in Feilding for a day of fun and activity.

On the last day of term three, the following students' efforts throughout the term were recognised in a special Recognition Assembly.

The aim of the day is to provide students in Horowhenua the opportunity to experience a workplace first-hand whilst showcasing local employers and career options, right here — in Horowhenua.

Research shows that 77 per cent of students would rather fail a subject than have their peers know they have their period and approximately one in 12 reported having missed school due to lack of access to period products.

On Monday 19 September, Manawatū College was fortunate enough to have a visit from Terisa Ngobi (Labour MP for Ōtaki), who came to check in on the progress of our school lunch programme since it started in May this year.

They worked collaboratively with other local colleges to create beautiful whakairo depicting the stories of our Iwi and Matariki.

He got two first places in freestyle and two second places in backstroke and medley and was awarded a merit certificate!

In September, we celebrated Maori language week.

You’ll be aware that New Zealand will move to a new, long-term approach to managing COVID-19. These changes have been made based on public health advice and reflect high levels of immunity and declining case numbers across New Zealand.

Dance NZ Made celebrates and embraces the strength, diversity and passion of dance in New Zealand.

This involved tertiary health students talking to the students about making sure they complete their secondary education and perhaps pursue one of the many rewarding careers in rural health.

The girls were phenomenal at the NZ Secondary Schools Weightlifting Championships held at the Porirua Barbell Club.

This year, Katrina was also asked to play for Massy University in their women's team.

'Morcs' dedicated many years of service teaching Maths here at Manawatū College and made positive contributions to many students over the years.

On the 8th of July, I went on this fantastic trip called the Spirit of Adventure. If you don’t know what it is, it’s a voyage that looks like a pirate ship. It's a youth leadership development adventure.

On Monday, 22 August, we had Life Education come to our kura to deliver informative, interactive programmes to our year 9, 10 and 11 students.

These are the Whakairo carvings a Matariki kaupapa the students have been working on.

She is currently in her second year of a PHD in Geology, which she received a University of Auckland Doctoral Scholarship to study.

Employment Services In Schools works with students in their last two years in high school.

Every fortnight, two students from each year level who have accrued the highest amount of tohu mihi go into a draw to receive a prize at Assembly.

On Wednesday 3rd August we held our annual Open Evening.

Earlier this year, we received funding from the Ministry of Education to create a programme designed to support junior students to be more successful with their learning.

Students learned to build confidence and resilience, and improve their personal fitness, and hand-eye coordination.

Field took out the competition with 9 points, Robertson House was second with 7 points, Morris House was third with 5 points and Allen House placed fourth with 3 points, respectively.

The students were acknowledged for their participation in Showquest and The Reader's Cup this term, as well as for excellence in attendance, effort report grades and tohu mihi.

The boys have been working over the term to collect wood, raise money for resources and collect watercress.

The Readers Cup is a reading competition designed for Year 9 students.

This year’s student representative is Monica Casquejo – great to have you on board Monica and contributing in this way!

RYDA is designed for 16-17-year-olds as they begin to drive or ride in cars driven by their peers. This workshop (part of a broader programme) challenges students to change the way they think about road safety and lay the foundation for safe road use throughout their lives.

This week was jam-packed full of kaupapa for our students to enjoy and learn about Matariki.

Each week there is a school-wide focus on one of our values and students who demonstrate these in class receive an acknowledgment from their teacher.

This year we have implemented Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) at Manawatū College, which is a programme designed to strengthen positive relationships between students, staff and whānau so students feel connected and empowered with learning in our community.

This year, we celebrated Pride Week as a kura. Our Senior Leaders ran activities across the week to celebrate the colourful diversity of our school and the wider community.

These boards were recently refurbished and reflect a proud academic tradition at the school.

Miya placed 1st Junior in womans U55kg and Kate placed 2nd Junior in woman's U59kg.

Also a huge congratulations to year 13 student Keely-Rae Puklowski who recently passed her Restricted Licence!

On the 23rd of May, the Year 13 students attended the annual Year 13 camp, planned by the Level 3 Events Management class.

On Friday 20th May, our students wore their pink to school with pride to take a stand against bullying and to reinforce the message that BULLYING IS NOT OK!

Abbey from Special Olympics NZ along with Manawatu basketball coach, Sharon, and one of their players Hayden came to deliver a P.E lesson to our Poipoia students. The students loved it!

Congratulations to Field House who took out the competition with 22 points. Robertson came second with 20 points. Morris placed third with 18 points and Allen finished up with 15 points overall.

Youth Week is about hearing the voices of our Youth. During this week, our Executive Senior Leaders provided some activities during our lunch break on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to allow us to hear the voices of our Youth in a positive way by engaging and supporting each other to have fun.

The ladies, Louise, Jo and Janelle are serving up some amazing lunches for the students and they are a hit with the staff and students!

Youth Week is aimed at youth aged 12 years and over and includes an exciting line-up of events including an Ultimate Gaming Experience, Manga Monday, 3x3 Basketball, Pool Rave and even a Dance Party.

When students perform consistently above the 'Achieved' level, their result(s) can be 'endorsed' to reflect that high achievement. This can occur at either the Certificate or individual course level.

This began with the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph. Senior students Trevor Clement and Niamh Hicks were the flag bearers for the RSA and lead the march from the clubrooms to the Cenotaph.

The Award is an international non-formal education framework, challenging young people to dream big and discover their potential.

David has been a long-standing, influential figure at Manawatū College since he started in 1980, inspiring hundreds of students throughout his long career.

The students had a ball zipping around on the scooter, throwing beanbags and weighted objects and enjoying some fun outside in the sun.

COVID-19 has impacted on our school community in so many ways, but that hasn’t stopped us from participating in our annual Relay For Life.

With winter sports starting next term it's great to have these new backboards and netball hoops in place for students.

Field won with 50 points. Allen House came second with 20 points +1 for winning the House Spirit Trophy. Robertson placed third with 15 points. Morris House earned 10 points respectively.

Students sit their Learners and Restricted licences through the combined College and HLC run programme.

I AM HOPE aims to promote positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand, and fund private care and counselling for young people stuck-in-the-mud on waiting lists.

Each year the Trust awards an amount of money to this prize winner to assist with their future tertiary studies.

On Friday 11th February we held the Inter-House Tug o War competition in the Gym.

Making the transition into College from primary school or intermediate can be daunting, so one of the first events on the calendar is the year 9 Orientation Camp, held at the Foxton Beach Bible Camp.

After the challenges we all faced in 2020 and 2021 with COVID-19, it was important that we started 2022 on a high note and that the first experience of school was one that focused on building positive relationships for learning.

On Thursday 3rd February we held a full school Pōwhiri to welcome all staff and students new to the College.
