Newsletter - WE 03/09/21
Tena koutou katoaThe end of our first few days on level three and we are all hoping for this to be some of the last and a swift return to full schooling at the end of next week. I have been asked over the last few days what may happen and like you, all have no idea and only hope that we can get back to normal as soon as possible. This week we have once again adapted our delivery model continuing to provide for offsite learning and also running three bubbles onsite for families that really need it. At the risk of being a broken record, I want to thank again the staff for adapting so quickly to run both models of delivery so quickly and with such professionalism. I would also like to thank those of you who were able to keep your children home. The new rules around 10 maximum students per school bubble and other associated health guidance would make it extremely difficult for us to manage large numbers of students on site and still provide quality remote learning. IF we go to level two next week, a reminder this means school is pretty much on as normal with the exceptions of some trips and excursions being cancelled and the need for parents to limit their access to school grounds and always scan or sign in. The need to stay home if unwell does not change.
I was sad this week to see the resignation of our school nurse Mischa and hope that she will be replaced very soon as this is a critical part of our school systems for student wellbeing and health. On a brighter note, we have, through the power of zoom, managed to complete our appointment process for our new Year 1 teacher for 2022 and are so pleased to welcome Anna Jamieson onto the team starting in January. Anna is coming to us from Wellington where she is currently working as a Reading Recovery Tutor and is a very experienced early years educator. The panel were impressed with the quality of applicants we had for this job and were so pleased to be able to secure Anna.
We won’t let a little thing like level three stop our Achiever of the Month and for the Month of September we would like to congratulate Joricah Paragas who is working so hard on her remote learning and engaging at every level. Well done to you Joricah for making the very best of this situation.
