Tena Koutou KatoaThe school production is upon us with the opening night tonight! Putting on a school production is a big deal. It takes a team, an awful lot of hard work and inspiration and effort to take the vision presented in the pages of a script to the stage. I would like to thank our director Ros Kelly for her guidance, support and enthusiasm over the past 12 weeks and also I really do need to mention the small army of staff and parents who have supported this play.
The students on the stage get to perform due to the late nights in the art room and the workshop as backdrops and sets are constructed. It happens because of a dedicated team working on costumes and props and even our local builder Ben turning up on a Friday night with a trailer load of scaffolding. It happens because the team at Amuri players lend us sound and lighting equipment (not to mention doing a fine job of training up our students in their own shows) and of course SR sound who always do such a great job for us to make things run smoothly.
When students look back on school in many years to come it will be things like the school production they will remember the most. The challenge of stepping outside of their comfort zone and letting their creativity and imaginations roam.
Thank you to you all and Lights, Camera.... ACTION!

ProductionThis week has been extremely busy with rehearsals each day and set design in full swing for the production of Peter Pan Jr on Friday and Saturday. It has been marvellous watching the transition of the students into their characters and the dedication required by all the students, staff, and parents to make this production happen. It has been a mammoth amount of work and I wish them all the best for their performances.
School FormalExcitement is brewing around the senior school about the upcoming formal on Friday 2nd July. This is one of the major events on our school calendar for seniors, and a highlight of the year. The theme for this year’s formal is ‘Enchanted Forest’ and it is being held at the Hanmer Springs Heritage Hotel with a dance and Ā la carte dinner and desert. Dressing up for this event is an expectation, with the requirements being girls dressing in long evening dresses and boys in a suit or formal jacket, shirt, tie, and pants. This is a school event, so school rules apply for entry to this event and during the event. Getting dressed up, having make -up and hair done is very important, but please try and get your appointments for later in the day. We look forward to seeing you all arrive in your elegant and sophisticated evening wear.
Attaining Excellence
Celine Barnes, Grace Moriarty, and Hannah Ferguson have been selected in representative teams to play at the National U19 Netball tournament in Rotorua during the second week of the July school holidays. These girls have shown a commitment to training and playing netball at the highest level and are outstanding players in their respective positions. The school wishes them all the best at the pinnacle event for netball in New Zealand.

A Simple CuppaThey say a problem shared is a problem halved, and often the best way to do this is over a cuppa.A huge shout out goes to Avalanche who kindly sponsored the Sugar Free Hot Chocolate for the Hot Choccy & Chats we have been enjoying in the clinic on these chilly winter days.
It has been a really wonderful point of connection with students and visiting health professional's alike. Seeing a group of friends come along to share their highs for the week and excitement of events ahead is as heart-warming as them coming along to support each other in sharing concerns. Connections are just so valuable.
Sharing a cuppa with someone when they are feeling most vulnerable or in need of support can be very rewarding so I challenge you all out there to reach out to others or make it known that your jug is always hot and the door is always open.
This covers many of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing below. Connection: being there, Give: Your time and presence, Take Notice: the simple things can bring so much joy.
Remind your children, the door is always open here at the clinic every Wednesday.
Yours in Good Health & WellbeingMischa
