2024 has been a great year for the sport of Touch at Hamilton Girls' High School.

As we end an extremely busy year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible strength, resilience and talent of our young wāhine at Hamilton Girls' High School.

In Week 4, Term 4 we were fortunate enough to be loaned a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), by the University of Waikato. This device uses a beam of electrons to create images to a far greater level of detail and magnification compared to standard light microscopes.

On Wednesday 30 October our annual Senior Prizegiving was held.

From the 19th to 22nd of November 2024, the HGHS volleyball Junior Premier team competed in the New Zealand Junior Schools Volleyball Championships at the Pulman Arena in Auckland.

Celebrating Success

This year Hamilton Girls’ High was approached by Diversity Counselling, a Charitable Trust, who are passionate about making a difference to the community.

Our Senior Premier Team competed in the Open Girls Championship Grade at Condor Sevens on the 30th November - 1st December.

Hamilton Girls' High School was delighted to welcome our incoming Year 9 students for 2025 for our Kaitiaki Day on Friday 1st November.

Our HGHS LEO Club has been on fire in 2024!

The HGHS Junior Premier 7s team has had a busy couple of weeks! They competed in the Chiefs Regional Champs (Year 9 and 10 tournament) at Hamilton Old Boys Rugby Club on Friday 22nd November against other schools around the Chiefs Region.

At our recent Sports Prizegiving, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of our athletes across all sports.

This year, two Year 9 classes went to Waikato University on a science field trip. We explored the campus, made some orange oil cleaner and learned about multiple important environmental issues.

On 22 October “Encore” Arts and Culture Showcase celebrated the very best of co-curricular Arts and Culture at HGHS.

Hamilton Girls' High School's Junior Girls Basketball team made us incredibly proud, finishing 2nd in the Premier Grade of the Junior Girls 3x3 Northern Regional Tournament.

The 2024 Junior Prizegiving took place on Tuesday 10 December in Ngā Puāwaitanga.

Kaylee Cartwright competed in the NZSS Trampolining Championships earlier this year.

This year we introduced a Y8 noho in the hope of alleviating the expected nerves when students arrive at Hostel for the very first time… and what a wonderful weekend we had!

Talent and hard work were recognised at the HGHS Arts and Culture Celebration Assembly, held on Friday 18 October.

As the school year comes to a close, significant milestones are occurring across year levels, with students preparing for important exams, completing assessments, and transitioning to new stages of their education.

Hamilton Girls' High School re-established a school visit from Ritsumeikan-Keisho Junior High School which is located on the island of Hokkaido in Japan.

On Thursday, 17 October, we gathered as a school community to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Māori and Pasifika students at our Celebration Assembly.

Our Year 9s dazzled us with their incredible talent and creativity during our three-day Showquest extravaganza in Week 8 of Term 4!

As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the rich and vibrant nature of our school culture.

In Week 8 the Year 10 Drama classes performed A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.

We have recently concluded our 2024 Cambridge IGCSE examinations which were held on various dates from Monday 14 October to Thursday 7 November.
