As we head into the final week of school in 2023, we express our gratitude to the wonderful school community for the abundant support and shared experiences throughout this year.

We wish to acknowledge and farewell some members of our staff who take on new challenges, retirement or new roles at the end of 2023.

As the end of the school year approaches, it's time to bid farewell to our wonderful Year 6 students. It has been a journey filled with growth, learning, and countless memories. Today, let's take a moment to reflect on the knowledge gained and celebrate the achievements of the past year.

Porohita team had a fabulous time at Cornwall Park yesterday celebrating the end of the year, and their time in Porohita.

It's been a busy term for Toki but one of the highlights has to be Rainbow's End as a way to say thanks to the Year 6 students for all their work through the year.

What an amazing time the Koru team has had celebrating the end of term.

Splish, splosh, goggles on. All ready to swim. Yesterday the Toki Syndicate went to swim at Mt Albert Wave Pools.

In Term 4, Toki students were learning about the technology design process. After successfully making badges, we then put our new knowledge to use to create personalised cap designs. Custom Teez offered to bring in the equipment and the Toki team jumped at the opportunity. Here’s what some of the students said about the whole cap design process:

Here's what's happening in the world of Garden to Table

Before and after school is a busy time for everyone. Parking rules help protect our children and keep them safe. Drivers who park illegally put our kids at risk. This term parking officers will be on patrol outside your school to issue tickets to those who are illegally parked.

With the changes to the New Zealand Curriculum - Te Mātaiaho Three Kings will be altering how they teach Literacy from 2024.

A huge thank you to the PTA and helpers (including some delicious student baking) for our lunch. As always it was greatly appreciated and it was a fabulous opportunity to slow down, sit down and eat and chat together.

Howick Historical Village Trip

I'm not sure how much sleep was had especially by the teachers and parent helpers but the Sleepover was a major success.

The Ministry is two years into a six-year programme to refresh The New Zealand Curriculum. The updated draft of Te Mātaiaho | the refreshed NZ curriculum is expected to be released in Term 4, 2023. Te Mātaiaho means “to observe and examine the strands of learning.” This name was gifted by Dr Wayne Ngata and members of our Rōpū Kaitiaki.

We're thrilled to remind you that the TKS Athletics Day is just around the corner, and we invite you to join us on November 3rd. This event promises a day of excitement, competition, and fun for all, and we hope to see you there!

Three Kings students from Years 3- 6 joined several other schools for a day of challenge and fun.

Last Friday was World Teachers day (the NZ version, as the real one was in our holidays!). We celebrated with a lovely breakfast cooked by the leadership team. It was a great way to start the day, and to celebrate the amazing job that our teachers do. We feel incredibly lucky at Three Kings School to have such an amazing group of talented, dedicated teachers.

The PTA is keen to make 2024 our biggest and best year yet BUT we need your help!

If you know anyone in your school | kura community that needs assistance with internet connectivity, do encourage them to apply before 31 October for fully funded Internet connection, via our Equitable Digital Access (EDA) programme. Connections are currently funded until 30 June 2024, and existing connections will automatically be renewed until then. For any queries, and to apply, contact eda@education.govt.nz or 0800 441 844.

We have lots of exciting learning and events planned for Term 4!

Term 4 started with an action-packed week about all things books! Our Book Week was a huge success with so many activities to do.

You should have now recieved your copy of your child's Term 4 newsletter which outlines some of the learning they will be doing this year. A digital version of these can be found here.

Here are the numbers that made it all happen...

For the first 4 weeks of the term, we are lucky enough to have secured a class set of life jackets for use during our swimming sessions.

The 2023 Community arts exhibition is being held at Mount Roskill Intermeditate School again this year. It will be held on Thursday 2nd November between 4pm and 7.30pm.

As we start to place our students into classes for 2024 please let us know if your family is leaving Three Kings School. Please email Andrea in the office at office@threekings.school.nz

The Activity Fee is used to cover the cost of all the events, both in and out of school, that the children do each term. To support our teachers in planning these events our preference is that the the fee of $100 is paid at the beginning of the year. Some families choose to pay this termly. If you have not paid the Activity Fee, we ask that you check Kindo for the activities that your child will be doing and continue to pay for them on an individual basis.

With the sunny season (hopefully) upon us, we would like to remind all our families the importance of sun protection for our students. Please remember to send your child to school with a hat every day in Term 4.

It is so lovely to see so many of our families playing on the school grounds after school. This is a lovely opportunity for community building. It is really important though that any child staying to play, after school finishes at 3pm, has an adult supervising them. We have had several incidents involving unsupervised children after school over the last few months and as school staff have meetings and commitments most days after school we cannot guarantee a member of the school staff will be around if an incident occurs. Thank you for support.

School will be closed to all students on Friday 24th November for staff professional development. You can contact Kelly Club directly to inquire about their supervision options for the day.

An invitation to all children who are interested in joining Indian Dance Group this term. We are very excited to welcome Dharshi Ponnampalam who has kindly offered to share her dance expertise with us and we are really looking forward to extending our repertoire in time for Diwali. We will meet in the hall every Monday Lunchtime,12:40- 1:10, however we are meeting on Wednesday this week. I look forward to seeing your beautiful children who are keen to come along on Wednesday.
