The representation of Pasifika traditional dance, music and customs known as Canterbury Polyfest showcases Pasifika culture in secondary schools around the South Island. It began in 2000 and is now the most recognised Pasifika festival in the South Island.

Our Sports Leaders organised an intra-school dodgeball tournament for the school. It took place during week 6 of Term 2, with separate matches for the juniors and seniors.

Twenty-five year 12 and 13 students embarked on the journey of a lifetime across Europe, accompanied by four very enthusiastic teachers.

Our Senior Boys A team won the South Island Secondary Schools' Boys Team Championships the weekend of 24-25 June 2023, held at the Burnside Squash Club, Christchurch.

The EPro8 Challenge is an inter-school science and engineering competition. It is designed to give students a fun and rewarding introduction to science and engineering. At each event, teams compete with other schools in our area to try and finish a variety of interesting challenges.

Year 12 and 13 Tourism students attended this amazing expo!

We have several students this year who are achieving well in recent Canterbury and Marlborough Table Tennis Championship tournaments.

Over the last two weeks, we have held our Level 2 and 3 Hospitality Restaurant Assessments. Year 13 students prepared and cooked a three-course menu, while Year 12 students served guests Front of House.

Burnside High School students were lucky to experience a NZ defence force helicopter landing at school this term.

An old and diseased willow was removed on our lower grounds and the Environment Group has re-planted the area with beautiful natives

The tradition of Wacky Week for our Year 13 Students was once more held, over the 6th - 9th June.

Te kura o Waimairi-iri rangatahi proudly represented themselves and Burnside High School at Ngā Manu Kōrero, the esteemed annual oratory showcase, held at Kaiapoi High school on the 15th and 16th of June.

A great day for our four choirs on June 9th at the regional Big Sing event.

The annual Showquest performance competition is underway. The regional competition was on 16/05/2023.

Watching the antics of gibbons entertained a group of 13 Biology students during their recent trip to Orana Park.

Term 2 is the term for Cross Country and Road Race. It is good to wait for that cooler Wintry weather.
